Though their amended charter of 1944/45 states that one of Watch Tower organization's purposes is for "...public Christian
worship of Almighty God and Jesus Christ..."
And though their own translation of the Scriptures did properly use the word 'worship' in reference to Jesus Christ well after 1961, until it was replaced by a word of lesser connotation, namely: obeisance.
the truth change?
Though their founder Charles T. Russell, who in Watch Tower writings was said to be that Wise and Faithful Servant of Matthew 24, whom the Lord appointed over His affairs, to give the flock their spiritual
food at the right time, didn't believe that Jesus was God, did teach that Jesus was entitled to true and genuine worship, at least after His resurrection. Does this mean that if Russell was alive today and refused to change his belief, he would be disfellowshipped?
42:8, God says that He will not share nor give His glory to anyone else, yet, Jesus at John 17:5 in perfect relationship with His Father claims the glory He had with His Father before the world even existed. This is not speaking of a lesser glory, as Jehovah's Witnesses would have us believe.
And even though the Bible boldly declares that the name of Jesus is above every name in heaven on earth and under the earth and commands that at the name of Jesus, every
knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord and in doing so giving glory to God the Father, (Isaiah 45:23-24, Romans 14:11) applied to Jesus at (Philippians 2:9-12) still Jehovah's Witnesses cannot find it in their hearts to worship Him.
Please think about this! Would you, in all honesty, prefer to stand before the judgement of God having worshipped Jesus Christ to the glory of God the Father and discover that you weren't supposed to do that, or rather, to find
out that you hadn't been obedient to the teaching of Scripture and that you should have truly worshipped Him.
Now is the time to worship the Son of God as Lord and God
as Thomas did in John 20:28 and as all the angels
are commanded to do in Hebrews 1:6 (NWT 1961) (See photo at bottom of this page).
Everyone must honour the Son just as
they honour the Father because he that does not honour the Son does not honour the Father. (John
